1. General Information

Students are accepted to Department of  Public Finance PhD  Programme since 2011-2012. In  PhD Programme in Public Finance, students are required to  complete 10 courses, including a total of  30 credits (60 ECTS) during 3 semesters.  Students who complete the course work with the academic advisor assigned to the thesis work, shall be executed and defend their thesis in front of the jury members. Upon successful completion of the period of course work and thesis, students will have the title of doctor's degree in the field of Public Finance. 

2. Qualification Awarded

Students having successfully completed this program are awarded a doctor’s Degree inPublic Finance.

4. Acceptance and Registration Provisions

General acceptance provisions is valid to start program for Turkish and foreign students.

5. Recognition of Prior Learning

In accordance with the principles determined by the Osmangazi University Senate students from other universities are accepted for the equivalent doctor's degree programs by lateral transfer.

6. Proficiency Requirements and Norms

It’s essential that students must be succeed at all courses, and must not get FF, DZ  orYZ grade. In this program, students must complete at least 60ECTS credits and grade point average must be at least 3,00 out of 4,00.

7. Program Profile (Objective)

The aim of the programme is to serve students the high level of education by transferring them  theoretical and practical knowledge about the basic disciplines of the public sector and to provide specializing opportunities for students by improving their opinions about the problems and responsibilities of public finance.

8. Program Proficiencies (Learning Outputs)
 

Comprehend the relationship between theory and practice about the field and analyze the interdisciplinary problems in the context of fiscal theory.

Analyze topics about the field using econometric models and interpret this models by developing policy recommendations.

Do scientific research in their field in accordance with academic rules by using econometric models.

Comprehend the importance of proffessional liability and scientific ethics and reflect the culture of scientific research.

Do the trend forecasting in the business cycle by following current improvments in national and international publications related to economics of the public sector, public financial management and public budgeting.

Compare the international tax systems in terms of theory and practice, analyze the taxational developments and offer solutions related to current problems.

Handle the globalization process and the role of public sector in a critical way, evaluate the implementation for different countries.

Do the scientific publication by taking into account problems related to fiscal and economic topics.

Be a model for the society with achieved knowledges, skills and behaviours. 

Find a job opportunity based on achieved knowledges in many different fields including academic career or public and private sectors.


9. Employement Opportunity for Graduates

Graduates with a master's degree, in the event ensure that the conditions of acceptance will have the opportunity to continue to doctorate programs. Our graduates can work at high level management positions with their deep knowledges. They may also have the opportunity to work as the academic staff at universities.

10. Access to Further Studies

Students who complete the graduate programme successfully can apply to postgraduate programmes provided that: They have required scores from the related parts of Academic Personnel and Postgraduate Education Entrance Exam (ALES). They have the sufficient scores from English Proficiency Tests (ÜDS, KPDS, TOEFL etc.) (Tests approved by the Inter-university Committee).
